The Alaska Coalition on Housing and Homelessness (AKCH2) is Alaska's homeless advocacy body. AKCH2 carries out the day to day management of the Balance of State Continuum of Care program, oversees the contract for the Alaska Homeless Management Information System (AKHMIS), and hosts an annual housing & homelessness conference each year.
Our mission is to end homelessness in Alaska. Given the vast geographic area of our state and the increased cost of living/development, accomplishing this mission comes with unique challenges. We focus our work on raising awareness through strategic and constant advocacy in addition to building bridges between organizations that have traditionally operated in silos.
The AKCH2 board is comprised of 15 elected board members across the state of Alaska who work in the fields of public housing, municipal/state government and/or manage social service agencies in Alaska. Board meetings are held every other month and are open to the public. For more information on future or past meetings, please visit our Board Webpage.

AKCH2 manages the day to day operations of the HUD & ESG funded Continuum of Care (CoC) program for Alaska's Balance of State. In addition, the coalition assists in the organization of the annual Point in Time Count, Housing Inventory Count, and participates on Alaska's SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access and Recovery (SOAR) team.
AKCH2 hosts an annual conference which brings together hundreds of the state's leading advocates and experts on housing and homelessness in Alaska. The 2017 conference will be held on October 16-17 at the Westmark Hotel and Conference Center in Fairbanks, AK. Click here for more details.
As Alaska's lead advocacy and education body for housing and homelessness issues, it is a priority of the coalition to ensure the public is educated on current planning processes, progress made toward ending homelessness and issues that are affecting individual communities.
